THE JOB

Responsible for PLC programming and design of Plant control systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program, design and configuration of PLC and HMI/SCADA networks ;
  • Support the development of project documentation (including control system detailed design packages, control narratives, alarm indexes, shutdown keys, user manuals, FAT/SAT documentation) ;
  • Prepare a variety of engineering deliverables and coordinate with other design disciplines, including process, mechanical and electrical engineering, for a sound and robust control system design ;
  • Design for cost and participate in product cost reduction team efforts ;
  • Provide technical support to Xebec’s internal clients.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to successfully perform this role. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable:
Engineer in automation, electrical, computer, software or any other equivalent training;

  • Undergraduate degree in electrical Engineering (0 -3 years) or related discipline (GPA) or DEC in related field with more than 8 years experience.
  • Member of the “ Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec” or eligible as a candidate to OIQ (preferable but not mandatory)
  • Testing and field start-up and commissioning experience (an asset);
  • PLC programming as per international standard IEC-61131 and familiar with automation procedures as per ISA-106 and ISA-88 (an asset);
  • Programming experience with PLC software as Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) Rs Studio 5000 (Rslogix5000, CCW, RsLinx, etc.)
  • Programming/design experience on project development with major HMI/SCADA/User interface brand such as: Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) FTView Studio SE and ME
  • Familiar with the configuration of PLC and instrument communication protocol such as
    o Ethernet/IP (AB)
    o Modbus/TCP, Modbus RTU (an asset)
  • Familiar with communication protocol converters and gateways such as Prosoft, DSP from Redlion or any other protocols converter (an asset)
  • Familiar with Rockwell Automation PlantPAX library (an asset);
  • Familiar with, pressure, temperature, flow transmitters, or willing to learn.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, both in English and French;
  • Must have a professional attitude oriented towards efficiency and results;
  • Clear commitment to schedule and project deadlines;
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously within tight deadlines and different project complexities;
  • Eager to learn and ready to try new roles inside Xebec
  • Previous experience in Biogas industry (an asset)

 

TRAVEL

Travel for periods of one to three weeks, once or twice a year in North America and internationally (must have a valid passport or the possibility of obtaining one).
